Painting by María Iborra Forqué
It's been exactly one year, one month, 1 week, and 15 hours since I last wrote my first and only post. Yes this is how I intend to someone follow this blog.
But before trying to get a FRESH start, I believed I had to translate first what I wrote previously as I intend to keep a bilingual blog, this way both people back in Spain and here in England, can keep track! Woaoh what a wish! I really don´t understand what I´m doing here.I really should be sitting in a Miss America beauty contest.
Well, after my brilliant joke which could be easily compared to a failed attempt of David Brent from The Office, I think there is no need to explain half of the things written here were, (and probably will keep being) written with humour, a lot of humour…and yes, when I read them back, I also feel embarrassed.
So now this point is clear I am not afraid anymore to expose my stupidity and I won't listen to that wise saying that goes “Better to remain silent and appear stupid than to speak and confirm the suspicions” and who has lately been banging in my head. I know “silence gives consent" but I'm tired of consenting!
Speaking of exposing oneself, among the many things that have happened this year, Maria has made her first solo exhibition in the POUSS gallery in Madrid from the 4th of November until the end of January of this year.
I consider it was very brave from her because in an exhibition (especially in a solo one), just like when speaking, one exhibits oneself to criticism and even if in a conference we had at university last week where the renowned art critic Peter Suchin reminded us that art critics are on the side of teaching the artist, we are all human and we are (I believe) all scared, me the first one. Before exposing myself I need to have worked a lot so I can feel safe but Maria has worked like a dog and has done it..so Congratulations Maria!:) Also, before and after the exhibition she has given several interviews, gifting the same literary pearls as she does in real life haha which I found very funny.
Well the following are some of the paintings that appeared in the show, I couldn't go to the opening because I was in London and I was going to Madrid for Christmas on the following week (no one cares about this detail) but
my point is that I did went to see it later and the paintings were as heartbreaking as they appear in the photos. Check yourself!
These are some pictures of the opening in which appears a very happy María, Rubén - her boyfriend and indeed his ultimate muse, Anderonion and Anuskel in an animated conversation, Danone with the Ibarra brothers, Cris Marañón, Ade, Alejandra .. etc. My father also appears in one of those- he has always admired the strength of Maria´s drawings, her mother, and Ruben Bejarano …and although I don’t know him personally I know that he has made much of this possible.
María Clara Iborra Forqué, artist and co-writer of this blog

Now that we are more or less up to date, and we will continue catching up, I want to put pictures of a painting I did in November but now on account of the birthday of the sitter, I want to publish because she still has not seen it or even known about its existence, Happy Birthday Auro!
Mmmh.. I´m having some technical problems so my wishes will have to wait!
Here tomorrow!
